Field Blasters

Questions

The things people actually ask.

Including the awkward ones. If yours is not here, ask it — the answer will end up on this page.

Money

What does it cost?
$99 a month for your whole company — everyone included, no per-user charge. $990 if you pay for the year. The first twenty companies pay $79 a month, locked for as long as they stay.
Is there a free trial?
14 days, and we do not ask for a card to start it. If it is not right for you, do nothing and it ends.
Is there a setup fee?
No. Not now, not later, not under another name.
Does Field Blasters take a percentage of my payments?
No. You connect your own Stripe account and pay Stripe's normal rates directly. We take a flat monthly fee for the software and nothing else — no cut of your invoices, your plans or your card payments.
Am I locked into a contract?
No. Cancel whenever you like and it stops at the end of the period you have paid for.

Getting started

How long until I can actually use it?
You can quote, schedule, work jobs and invoice on your first day. Two things take longer and neither is up to us: taking card payments waits on Stripe approving your account, which is usually quick and occasionally a few days. And your public booking page does not go live until it can genuinely take a booking — see below.

Anybody promising you "set up in five minutes" is describing a form, not a working business.

Can I bring my existing customers across?
Yes — import your list from a spreadsheet, with a step where you match your columns to ours. Bring your customer list and their addresses. Bringing ten years of job history is not something we would recommend; the app loads your data to work quickly, and a decade of records works against that.
Why won't my booking page go live straight away?
Because Field Blasters checks that it can actually take a booking first: something a customer can choose, somebody to do the work, your hours, your timezone and your policies. Until those exist, the page says you are not booking online yet rather than showing an empty calendar. A dead booking link on the side of your van costs you more than no link at all.
Do I need a Google account for address search?
No. Address autocomplete is included and works from the first day. If you already have your own Google account and would rather use it, you can.

What it does and doesn't do

Can it text my customers?
Not yet, and there is no date. Sending business texts in the US means registering your company with the phone carriers in its own legal name — weeks of paperwork per company, and it is not done. Email to your customers works today: confirmations, quotes, invoices and receipts, from your business name with replies coming to you.
Does it connect to QuickBooks?
No. There is no QuickBooks, Xero, Zapier or public API. You can export what you need as a spreadsheet. If accounting sync is essential to you, this is the wrong software today.
Does it optimise my routes?
No, and it does not claim to. The board shows drive-time estimates between consecutive stops so you can spot a day that criss-crosses town. It is a straight-line estimate scaled by an average speed you set — genuinely useful, not a routing engine.
Is there an iPhone app?
It installs to your phone's home screen and opens like any other app, but it is a web app rather than an App Store download. Your crew adds it once and it behaves like an app after that.
Can it handle sales tax in different areas?
No — one tax rate for the whole business. Fine in Utah. A real problem if you cross into areas with different rates.
Can it track job costs and margins?
No. You can see labour cost for a pay period, but not materials or the profit on an individual job.

Fit

Is my trade a good fit?
It was built for window cleaning and it suits recurring outdoor service work generally — windows, gutters, pressure washing, solar panel cleaning, landscaping, pool service, pest control. If your work is quoted, scheduled, visited and invoiced, and some of it repeats, it will fit. Tell us what you do and we will say honestly.
How big does my business need to be?
One to ten people. A sole trader is a real customer and the software does not treat them as incomplete. Above about ten, something else will serve you better.
What support do I get?
A person who reads every message and generally answers the same day. Not a 24/7 line, not a success manager, not a ticket queue. For a business this size that is usually better, but it is a real difference and you should know it.

Your data

Can other companies see my customers?
No, and the rule that stops it lives in the database itself rather than in the software on top of it. There is more detail on the security page, including how it is tested.
What happens to my data if I leave?
It stays readable and exportable for 90 days, and we delete it whenever you ask. Your Stripe account, your customers and their saved cards are yours and are not affected at all.

Ask us the one that isn't here.
